Saints Select CB Tracy Porter

The Saints chose CB Tracy Porter from Indiana University with the 40th selection in the draft. Porter had a very solid career at Indiana, recording 16 interceptions. Porter is known as a ball-hawk and should add solid depth in the secondary.

The saints corners now include: Mike McKenzie, Randall Gay, Jason David, Usama Young, Aaron Glenn and now Porter. I like this pick for the simple fact that it was defense. Jeremy Shockey would have been nice considering Drew Brees is the quarterback but its no secret where the Saints weakness was. Ellis and Porter, although not the sexy picks, are solid picks for the defense. There is now quality depth in the Saints secondary and along the line which is going to be key.

This was a great draft. Carl Nicks projected early 2nd round, got em in 5th…The starting right tackle, just watch. Also, Ellis and Hollis, then Demario Pressley, no one will run on us. Tracy Porter will turn out to be 2nd best corner out of this draft. Adrian Arrington, 6′2, will become 4th WR, next year, 3rd…3 young runners at wide out, great draft. We just need Erin Henderson, Ali Highsmith, another guard, and Sam Keller as UFA’s…

Haha, a little too positive are we? I too find myself excited about the upcoming season and that directly relates to the solid job the front office has done this offseason. The defense is vastly improved from the past few seasons and it’ll be interesting to see where these young guys fit in.
