New Orleans Saints third-round draft pick Oscar Delp is already drawing some insane comparisons, and August hasn't even rolled around yet. NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell, a long-time film analyst, says that the rookie tight end is a lot like NFL All-Pro George Kittle.

The nephew of late broadcaster Howard Cosell was hesitant to make a direct comparison. "He's a player whose tape I really like. Now, he did not put up huge receiving numbers in college, but I think that he could become a really good, multi-dimensional, dual tight end in that he can block inline; he's athletic as a receiver," Cosell said on the Ross Tucker Podcast. "Kittle, in his last two years at Iowa, if memory serves me correctly, caught 20 and 22 balls and was what, a fourth- or fifth-round pick?"

Kittle, a 2017 fifth-round draft pick, has made seven pro-bowls and five all-pro teams in his career. If Delp can be even a fraction of that, then it should be a home run pick for New Orleans. Although if this is the hype that he can bring without a snap taken yet, then the selection already seems to be working out.

Saints TE Oscar Delp is ready to work through the good, bad, and the ugly in his first NFL offseason

There's a lot of hype surrounding the young tight end and what he could be, but for now all the rookie is focusing on is the present. "I'm excited to be out here and compete and to go to these meeting rooms after this and figure out the good, the bad, and the ugly and just grow from it," Delp said. "I think I'm a body type and a dude that can help anywhere on the field, whether that's special teams, the run game, the passing game, or anywhere on offense. I'm excited to help."

So far, that excitement has been clear to the naked eye. But the real test will be how he does as the offseason ramps up. The excitement for the Saints' third-round pick is already a George Kittle level. If he can keep the energy and produce through mandatory minicamp, training camp, and the preseason, then the hype might be doubled.

It's difficult to imagine what the comparisons might be for the New Orleans tight end if the media gets more excited. Either way though, it looks like the national media is a fan of Delp. If you ask them, he is apparently set to be the next great tight end for the Saints.
