Alvin Kamara trade idea gives Saints perfect chance to move on

This makes a lot of sense.

Even though Alvin Kamara's agent has said that the running back plans to play for the New Orleans Saints in 2026, that doesn't necessarily mean that's what will end up happening. After all, trading Kamara would save the Saints nearly $14 million and with Travis Etienne Jr. joining the black and gold this offseason, the long-time Saints running back is now expendable.

Lee Vowell of 12th Man Rising has what seems like the perfect solution, which is the Saints trading Kamara to the Seahawks. Vowell's logic is that Kamara would give the Seahawks a veteran leader in the running back room to mentor Jadarian Price, their first-round pick, especially after losing Kenneth Walker III in free agency.

"For the Seahawks, adding the Saints running back would give rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price the perfect role model. Kamara has been a multi-faceted back who is capable of extreme explosiveness, just as Seattle hopes Price will be. He isn't a bruising back, the kind that Seattle has many of.
"Price and Kamara would work as a top-flight duo, allowing new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury to run his scheme with no limit to its versatility and creativity. Plus, if Fleury does want a bigger back on the field, the Seahawks have free agent acquisition Emanuel Wilson in that role. George Holani would also work."

Seahawks would be the perfect trade partner for Alvin Kamara

With Etienne moving to the Big Easy this offseason, Kamara is no longer RB1 for the Saints. Pairing Etienne along with promising young talents Devin Neal and Kendre Miller makes Kamara even more expendable, plus Kamara will turn 31 years old in July. That's ancient in running back years.

Kamara has been a great player since joining the Saints in 2017 but the running back room is heading in a different direction. Why not try to get something for Kamara now and free up some cap space in the process? For what it's worth, Vowell suggested a third-round pick for Kamara, which would be a home run for New Orleans.

If the Seahawks want to bring Kamara in to mentor their young rookie draft pick, then so be it. The Saints could kill two birds with one stone and would officially be moving on to the next era of running back talent in New Orleans.

It'd be tough to see Kamara in a uniform that isn't black and gold, but all good things must come to an end and this is a trade idea that makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
