Dream the impossible dream, Fight the unbeatable foe, Strive with your last once of courage To reach the unreachable star. For Saints fans 2010 will live on as one of the greatest years imaginable thanks to one shining moment that was long, long, overdue — a Super Bowl championship. Sure the Saints had some successful seasons in the last twenty years but honestly they were very few and far between. Forty-four years of mediocrity came to an end in February when the Saints beat the Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV as fans everywhere rejoiced. Finally the Saints were champions.
Kick off specialist Courtney Roby has watched his team play from the sideline for the last two and a half weeks after suffering a concussion in week fourteens game against the St. Louis Rams. The injured occurred while he was attempting to run back a kick in the third quarter. He was hit hard which forced a fumble and during the ensuing scramble for the ball took knee to the neck by fellow teammate Matt Giordano. Roby lay motionless on the field for several minutes before carted where he was later taken to a local hospital for evaluation. All tests [...]
The Gris Gris Man’s Spell On The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Way back in da swamp down Barataria way, I come to cast my spell today, I choose this spot on a pirate’s gravesite, Where Jean Lafitte spent many a night, I call on you who helped save New Orleans, Rise up you dead pirates and hear my screams, I cry out to all da spirits of you merciless dead souls, It’s time to gather behind the winner of the Super Bowl, Our Saints are playing some pirates too, That’s why tonight I’m calling on you, So grab up your swords in your cold dead hands,
Did You Notice…New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Did you notice the Saints run defense looked as good as it has all season holding Atlanta running back Michael Turner to only 48 yards on seventeen carries. New Orleans was gashed last week by Ray Rice in their loss to the Ravens when he rushed for 153 yards and the common thought was that Turner was going to find the same success. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams put together an aggressive scheme specifically to stop the run stacking the “box” with at last seven or more defenders throughout the game. The defensive line was able to maintain their gaps and string out [...]
One statement needed to be made on Monday Night Football, the New Orleans Saints are still the Super Bowl Champions (which they did). There was plenty of excitement and all of the electricity during the game and afterwards on all of the blog pages out on Tuesday morning. My ears are still ringing from the screams of excitement during the game Monday night that was thick with a playoff atmosphere more than any fan could have ever asked for. The New Orleans Saints went in to the Georgia Dome to remind the Atlanta Falcons who the champions are and came out with a victory to seal their second consecutive season making the playoffs.
The Saints injury list has gotten longer over the last few weeks and with only two games left, that have major implications on their playoff aspirations, it’s not a good sign that the team will be without some key players when they face the Atlanta Falcons. Tight end David Thomas has been ruled out for the second straight week after suffering a minor lateral meniscus tear in his knee in week 14 against the Rams. He underwent a scope procedure to determine the severity of the injury and his expected recovery team has always been two weeks. While Thomas is a definite commodity for [...]
Despite the “rivalry” between our two franchises, Saints fans feel a certain kinship with the Falcons. We love you like anyone loves the less attractive sibling that makes them look more attractive.
On the Winter Solstice I brewed this magic potion, When night was full of spirits I set this spell in motion, I called on Papa Legba to lend me his special power, So now with moon all full I cry out at the midnight hour, Oh Ms Marie come stir my pot and into it your magic put, Some powerful gris gris medicine and toenails from your foot,
New Orleans Saints Ultimate Team Goal
After losing a tough road game in Baltimore this past Sunday the Saints realized that their ultimate team goal set at the beginning of the season is still attainable. Starting this week in Atlanta they will need to circle the wagons, come out strong and give 110% in all phases of the game for 60 minutes. This Saints team knows how to win games in this league and getting into the playoff is just part of the teams ultimate goal, they need start playing like last years champions.
Running back Chris Ivory missed last weeks game against the Baltimore Ravens after becoming a last minute scratch when his hamstring remained tight through out pre-game warm up’s. He aggravated the hamstring a week before during the first quarter of the Saints win over the St. Louis Rams after rushing for 47 yards on seven carries, he did not return for the remainder of the contest. Ivory leads all rookie running backs, and Saints running backs, with 683 yards and five touchdowns. He has proven himself to be a play maker in the offense even after going undrafted out of Tiffin University [...]
