When the manager of the Louisiana Superdome surveys the stadium’s latest and most extensive renovation project yet, he finds himself thinking more about his city’s hopeful future than its troubled recent past.
In mid-June, a source with intimate knowledge of the NFL labor negotiations told me a settlement before the start of the season was nearly a forgone conclusion. He was so enthused by the progress being made he said a deal could be hammered out with plenty of time for free agency (albeit slightly rushed) before the scheduled opening of training camps next month.
Channel 9 Sports was first to report he was preparing to list his Indian Hill home for sale, that he had actually done so, that he had accepted an offer on the property and now finally we can report that the deal has closed.
Herm Edwards was an NFL coach for eight seasons with the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s probably best remembered for his motivational skills, even if he wasn’t particularly well versed in the nuances of clock management. So it makes perfect sense that he would speak to the 155 rookies at the NFLPA’s rookie symposium.
Moore could have a long list of potential suitors once the lockout is lifted and the Saints may not be able to match a team’s offer that is desperate to land a productive wide receiver. Then again, the Saints may not have to worry about matching any one’s offer.
