The Kellen Moore era is beginning with a pair of new looks. After unveiling new helmets, the New Orleans Saints aren’t finished yet. They have teased new uniforms on social media as well.
The announcement video saw Cameron Jordan carrying a duffle bag with an illuminating golden light coming from inside. Though it wasn't explicitly said in the video or the caption, the title on the Saints official youtube page confirms the announcement is for new jerseys.
The video ended with a release date of July 22. That's a week after the announcement. When the Saints teased their new helmets, they were released the next day. The Saints are giving us a little more time to ponder on what this release will look like.
Are the Saints finally bringing back gold jerseys?
If you subscribe to easter eggs like this is a comic book movie, all of the signs point to the Saints unveiling a gold jersey. Jordan was the player featured in the video teasing the jersey. He is on record saying he would like to see the Saints don the gold jerseys once again, which the team has only wore once. Jordan is one of the faces of the team, but it would almost be cruel to feature him and it not be gold jerseys.
Another easter egg is the gold duffle bag and gold illuminating light inside. The gold aesthetic carries the video and seems to be a subtle hint of what is on the way.
There aren't any new colors to pick from other than gold. If the Saints don't roll out new gold jerseys, it would have to be a revamp of their standard black or white jerseys. That just doesn't feel like the likely outcome at this stage.
The white helmets were well received, and the jerseys are hoping to replicate that success. The white helmets will be solely worn with the team's color rush jerseys. It will be interesting to see if this jersey is paired with the black helmets unveiled a few years ago. That decision would continue the trend of thematic uniforms.
