The New Orleans Saints begin the Kellen Moore era in 61 days when they welcome the Arizona Cardinals into the Caesars Superdome. Reggie Bush makes another appearance on th elist as we contniue our countdown to Saints kickoff.
Bush made his fair share of explosive plays, so there's a lot of options to choose from. We've already passed up on some of his longer plays, and he has still made three appearances, the most of any player. When the countdown is all said and done, there's a chance Bush is seen on this list more than anyone other than Drew Brees.
Today's play of the day was a reception from Brees. This 61 yard reception was Bush's longest touchdown from scrimmage during the regular season in a Saints uniform. Bush's longest play from scrimmage as a Saint, an 88-yard touchdown catch in the NFC Championship Game, was already included in the countdown.
Reggie Bush used to make it look so easy that you may have missed the skill
Today's play of the day comes from Bush's rookie season. Though he never became the bell cow running back expected of a second overall pick, Bush often showed the electrifying ability that made him one of the greatest collegiate players of all time, hence why he has three inclusions on the list before we make it halfway through the countdown.
This particular reception from Bush was a great display of how effortless things looked for Bush at times. He caught the ball in space, but Cowboys defenders were in his path shortly. Bush made multiple slight changes in direction to set up his blockers, so the defenders never got a hand on him.
Even as Bush had to pick his feet up a little more to avoid his own linemen's feet, it didn't seem like Bush broke stride at all visually. Setting up his blockers didn't allow the running back to run full speed ahead. When a defender caught up to him and got arms around his legs, it only caused a mere stumble.
At this point, Bush was ahead of his linemen with two more defenders in his face. He just cut inside and turned around both defenders. Bush made it look so easy that you could go back to the play after reading this and still feel there was a little embellishment in the description. That is just how effortless Bush was able to move, and that's what made him special.
