Derek Carr's tone-deaf reactions to blowout loss are slap in the face to Saints
Thursday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Denver Broncos was an embarrassment for the Saints. New Orleans entered the game on a four-game losing streak, and with several key players sidelined with injury, everyone knew it would be a tough game for the team. However, no one saw the Saints being ran out of their own building like they were.
By the time the fourth quarter rolled around for the 33-10 loss, everyone in black and gold was disgusted. From fans to players to coaches, and it was a visible disgust, written on everyone’s face. However, there was one person in black and gold seemingly still having a good time. That person was Derek Carr.
Carr didn’t play on Thursday, as he’s still sidelined with an oblique injury, but he was captured laughing on the sideline during the fourth quarter as his team was being blown out.

Simply put, that’s inexcusable from Carr, and a slap in the face to his teammates that were still on the field battling, and to the fans in the stands and at home, who appeared to care more about the outcome than he did.
Everyone understands Carr is a human, and he couldn’t play in the game tonight. Naturally, he was going to have conversations with Taysom Hill on the sideline. However, for him to be laughing, for whatever reason, while the team was being embarrassed, is an all-time example of not reading the room.
Carr is a proven competitor, and there’s no doubt that he wants to be on the field leading the Saints to victories. He even admitted that he cares about winning New Orleans over and playing good football for the fans. However, his actions on Thursday night aren’t going to win over any Saints fans, but they’ll definitely lose him some.
