Who Dat Dish: New Orleans Saints News, Rumors And Links For 5/11

New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp is now underway, so you  know there is a wealth of news set to be released in the upcoming hours as things happen with the team.

Today we’ll talk about several rookies, take a look at the offseason so far and much more.

Here we go. Reminds Us There is No Media Access to Rookie Minicamp

Per Mike Triplett:

Unfortunately there will be no media access to the #Saints rookie minicamp on Saturday, after all. The Saints had originally considered making Saturday’s practice open to the media but ultimately decided to keep this weekend’s camp closed, which has been the case in recent years.
The next scheduled media access to a Saints practice session will come during an OTA (organized team activities) on Thursday, May 23. Reports Saints Have Signed John Jenkins

Per Larry Holder:

All the New Orleans Saints rookie contract drama ended without any drama to speak of as the Saints signed third-round pick defensive tackle John Jenkins to a four-year deal, the team announced Friday.

Jenkins was only one day behind the other members of the 2013 Saints draft class as he was the final member to sign a contract. The Saints announced the signings of safety Kenny Vaccaro, tackle Terron Armstead, wide receiver Kenny Stills and linebacker Rufus Johnson on Thursday.

ESPN Details How NFC South is Going Light at Left Tackle

Per Pat Yasinskas:

The Saints list Charles Brown at 297 pounds, rookie Terron Armstead at 306 and Jason Smith at 310. Outside of Gross and Baker, the league’s only other projected starters at left tackle that are listed at less than 310 pounds are Indianapolis’ Anthony Castonzo (305), Dallas’ Tyron Smith (308) and Minnesota’s Matt Kalil (308).

ESPN Held Another NFC South Chat

Per Pat Yasinskas:

Mark (NH): What are the expectations for the Saints now that “Bountygate” is virtually behind them? Coach is back, players are back, and the team has changed a bit. What type of team will they field?

PY: Think just getting Payton back is going to help tremendously. But they still have to play some defense.

Scott (Northglenn, CO): Fair to say that injuries were the reason for Jimmy Graham’s regression last year, and that if he’s fully healthy, he should be dominant again?

PY: Think that’s probably fair to say and I think the injuries also factored into his issue with drops.

ESPN Detailed the Key Offseason Move for the Saints

Per Pat Yasinskas:

New Orleans Saints: Safety Malcolm Jenkins might be the most perplexing player in this division. A first-round pick in 2009, Jenkins seems to possess every talent (physical skills, work ethic and intellect) necessary to be a star. Yet Jenkins really hasn’t had much of an impact. Maybe new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will figure out a way to get Jenkins finally to play up to his potential. But the Saints used a first-round pick on Kenny Vaccaro, and they want to get him on the field. Maybe the arrival of Vaccaro will light a fire under Jenkins.
