Who Dat Dish: New Orleans Saints News, Rumors and Links for 4/14

It’s been a quite Sunday so far in the world of the New Orleans Saints, but its been a long week overall—especially with the news running back Chris Ivory could be joining the New York Jets sooner rather than later.

There’s a few things to go over today, including late-round prospects the Saints should target, a messy cap situation for the team in 2014 and beyond and of course, opinions on the Ivory situation.

Let’s take a look.

WWLTV Details the Saints’ Horrible Cap Situation:

Per Bradley Handwerger:

According to Yasinskas, New Orleans sits already committed to $139 million for next season and the cap isn’t expected to budge very much from this year’s $123 million ceiling. That’s the second-highest number in the NFL right now behind Dallas’  $146 million.

And as he points out, the Saints’ budget for 2014 will only grow once this year’s draft picks sign.

ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas Held a Q&A With Saints Fans:

Michael (nv): with some of the big linebackers that were available in FA why not cut vilma and smith and go after one. Smith is not great and vilma is in decline

PY: If they were going to cut them, they would have done that back in March instead of restructuring both their contracts. However, I will say I think they would have been better off cutting them then. Could have made a fresh start on rebuilding the defense.

Who Dat (NOLA): Do you see the Saints still willing to trade Pierre Thomas or Chris Ivoryor will they be returning next year?

PY: Think it’s possible they could look for a trade. They could use the draft picks.

charles (houston): Hey Pat any chance the Saints move up and grab Jordan

PY: Not sure Saints are in a position to be trading up.

B/R’s Jonathan Peralta Lists 5 Names the Saints Should Pursue in the Late Rounds:

The names:

William Gholston, DE, Michigan State

Chris Faulk, OT, LSU

Chase Thomas, OLB, Stanford

T.J. McDonald, S, USC

Kwame Geathers, NT, Georgia

ICYMI: We Believe the Saints Are Better Off Losing Chris Ivory in Exchange for Picks.

That’s all on this quiet Sunday, but make sure to check back in tomorrow things heat up once again at the beginning of a new week. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @whodatdish or Like us on Facebook in the meantime!
