The New Orleans Saints are 68 days away from their first game of the season versus the Arizona Cardinals. It wouldn't be surprising to see Rashid Shaheed score a 68-yard touchdown in that game. The wide receiver has become such a reliable deep threat that it's never a surprise when it happens.

In his rookie season, Shaheed brought down a 68-yard touchdown reception against the Atlanta Falcons. He displayed his scorching speed as he went down the middle of the field. The ball went just over the outstretched arm of the Falcons defender.

The 68-yard touchdown is our play of the day as we continue our countdown to Saints kickoff. Shaheed is the one Saints player who can score from anywhere, and the Saints need him to continue being that after his season was cut short.

Rashid Shaheed's big play ability was obvious from his debut

Shaheed has been an explosive play machine from the jump for the Saints. While that is typically used hyperbolically, this is an accurate description for Shaheed. His first offensive touch was actually a rushing attempt. He took that play 44 yards to the end zone versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Other than a punt return and a kick return, Shaheed only had one touch that game, and it went for a touchdown. The wide receiver repeated the same script the following week. This time it was a reception, a 53-yard score.

Shaheed is now known league-wide for his proficiency down the field. He's earned that reputation for himself through consistently recording big plays. The most impressive aspect of it is he has done it with many different quarterbacks.

The play of the day was a reception from Taysom Hill. Shaheed has also hauled in touchdowns of 50 or more yards from Andy Dalton and Derek Carr. Shaheed only played one game with Spencer Rattler before going down with injury. If you're simply playing the probability game, a deep shot from Rattler was bound to happen. He's caught a touchdown of 50+ from every other starting quarterback during his career.
