Saints owner Tom Benson and general manager Mickey Loomis need to sign Drew Brees, and get it done now. They need to do it not just because he is a great quarterback but because he is a great person. When New Orleans was down, and some thought out, he brought his wife here and invested in this city — not just by playing football but by becoming a part of this city. What better example for our children to see? He leads by example and has earned the respect of his teammates as well as the people of New Orleans.

The offense will stress a tempo similar to the New Orleans Saints, where Allen worked as an assistant coach before joining the Broncos in 2011.

A 34-year-old man was recently charged by the U.S Attorney’s Office on accusations of making threats against the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. During the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints football game at the Superdome on Jan. 7, U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said a threatening phone call was received by a receptionist. According to court documents, the caller, who was identified as 34-year-old Shawn H. Payton, asked if he had reached the arena where the Saints play. After stating that it was, the court documents said that Payton told the receptionist that a bomb was in the building.

The madness begins at 10 a.m. with the Patriots meeting reporters for an hour, and then it’s the Giants turn. TE Rob Gronkowski will be speaking at podium No. 1, and he’ll address that ankle. OL coach Dante Scarnecchia will be available for the first time all year, and OC Bill O’Brien will also speak for the first time in weeks.

Last year in the draft there was an amazing run on quarterbacks in the first round — Cam Newton (1), Jake Locker (8), Blaine Gabbert (10), Christian Ponder (12) — all were off the board in the blink of an eye. Will the same thing happen this year? It’s always possible, but for sure Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Ryan Tannehill won’t make it through the first round.
