Saints fans spent TNF serenading Dennis Allen for what they hope is the final time
For a while, New Orleans Saints fans have been telling anyone that would listen that they want head coach Dennis Allen fired. On Thursday night, those fans made sure everyone heard them, and with how New Orleans looked, it’s hard to disagree.
Facing the Denver Broncos, a 3-3 team with a rookie quarterback and without their best player, the Saints were dominated from the start of the game. The offense couldn’t get anything going, and the defense was getting ran all over all night.
The display from New Orleans had commentators disgusted, and players angry. However, no one was more vocal than the loyal Saints fans. Throughout the entire second half, Fire Dennis Allen chants rang out through the Superdome.
Saints fans chant for Dennis Allen to be fired
Fans have been calling for this since last season; of course they would make it loud and clear while the team is being embarrassed by Sean Payton during a night Drew Brees was inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s undoubtedly rock bottom of the Dennis Allen era, and fans are hoping it’s also the end.
However, everyone knows that’s wishful thinking, because if there’s one person that’ll support Dennis Allen through anything, it’s Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. Loomis has repeatedly preached patience with Allen and has emphasized results are about more than just the head coach.
While that’s certainly true, it’s hard to defend the direction New Orleans is going under Dennis Allen. Each game, things get worst, and as long as he’s on the sideline, fans will be chanting for him to be fired.
