Derek Carr and Saints have a surprising supporter after being disrespected by Eagles
The New Orleans Saints have turned their attention to the huge rivalry game they have coming up with the Atlanta Falcons, but there are still discussions being had about New Orleans’ Week 3 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. A game that Philly won 15-12 had more excitement and headlines come from the postgame comments than the play on the field.
The Eagles accused of New Orleans of being a dirty team, Tyrann Mathieu said he can’t wait to see Philadelphia again, and of course, C.J. Gardner-Johnson had the loudest comments, calling the Saints pretenders, and saying they won’t go far because Derek Carr is the quarterback.
A lot of people in New Orleans didn’t like hearing what Gardner-Johnson had to say, but the words from the veteran safety even rubbed people outside the Saints the wrong way.
Once his words made their rounds through the NFL world, Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons decided to step in and defend Derek Carr and the Saints, saying he doesn’t know who C.J, Gardner-Johnson thinks he is.
Micah Parsons calls out C.J. Gardner-Johnson and defends Saints
On the latest episode of his podcast, The Edge, Parsons responded to Gardner-Johnson’s claim that New Orleans is a pretender. The edge defender, who lost to New Orleans in Week 2, argued the Saints are a good team. He pointed out how the Saints lost Erik McCoy on the first series against the Eagles, and how much of a difference that made.
Still, the Eagles only won the game 15-12. Parsons found it “mind boggling” for Gardner-Johnson to talk like that after escaping with a narrow victory.
Parsons also said everyone needs to be real and admit Derek Carr is far more validated and accomplished in the NFL than Gardner-Johnson, so the safety shouldn’t be talking down on him. But, the Cowboys defender concluded his statement by saying everyone has a voice and can say whatever they want, so he wanted to use his platform to uplift the Saints and call out Gardner-Johnson.
