It’s the offseason so we have some film study, analysis and other news pieces to go over concerning your New Orleans Saints. Hey, better than nothing at this point as we await the arrival of Saints training camp.
Per the Saints official website:
“I would say that it is just as much studying as it was when we were playing, it’s just different,” said Evans, who retired after the 2010 season, ending his 10-year career that included a two-year stay in New Orleans. “You study a game plan, you prepare to beat one team, but now you’re trying to maintain a knowledge level on 32 different organizations. You have to know not just the players you are facing, but you have to know the GMs and who’s making the financial decisions and who’s making the roster decisions. Is the head coach an offensive or defensive coach? Does he control everything?”
Per Dave Cariello:
I think it’s fair to say that signing Keenan Lewis, one of the top NFL free agent cornerbacks on the market this off-season, equals an instant upgrade for this unit. The Saints also parted ways with Johnny Patrick, who just wasn’t cutting it on the field. Both moves alone should bode well for this secondary in 2013 and equal improvement.
Per Uptown Murf:
I surmise that Patrick Robinson is in for a breakout year. His first three years in the NFL have been a bit of a mixed bag. As the result of thorough film study , I see a corner with elite athleticism that will be coached up by defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and his staff. He has good tackling ability, speed, size and overall really good corner acumen. Putting him at the second spot will pay dividends in conjunction with newly acquired corner Keenan Lewis.
