Saints QB Drew Brees Is More Accurate Than An Olympic Archer

AUTHOR: | IN: Drew Brees, Off Topic/Other, Saints | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Drew Brees, at this point in his career, has clearly become the best quarterback in the NFL. The last three seasons he has thrown for more yards (13,910), completions (1,209), and has had the highest completion percentage (66%) of any quarterback. His heroics last season are widely known, falling just short of Dan Marino’s passing yardage record set in 1984 by a mere 16 yards. So what makes Brees so good? If you can believe it he is actually more accurate than an Olympic archer when he throws the football, proven by his appearance on the television show Sports Science. [...]

Saints Place Pro-Bowl Left Tackle Jammal Brown On IR, Re-Sign Center Nick Leckey

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

New Orleans effectively ended Jammal Brown’s season today announcing the teams has placed him on injured reserve after he underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia injury. Brown was expected to return to the field after the Saints bye week but subsequently went under the knife again for hip surgery thus increasing his recovery time. Second-year backup Jermon Bushrod will oversee Brown’s duties at the starting left tackle position where he has filled in more than adequately since the start of the season. Earlier in the week the Saints added rookie QB chase Daniel to the active roster and the [...]

New Orleans Saints – Defensive Ranks Through Week Three

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Off Topic/Other, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

For as good as the Saints offense has been over the years it’s defense has been as equally bad, and that’s not good. It became an all too familiar sight for opposing wide receivers to beat Saints defenders deep for huge gains, and as a fan you just knew it was a matter of time before it happened. The Saints defense ranked 26th in the league in 2007 and 23rd in 2008, hence why the Saints completely missed the playoffs both seasons. Typically the story has been about Drew Brees and the electric Saints offense and of course the lack [...]

New Orleans Saints March To 3-0 After Ugly Win Over The Buffalo Bills 27-7, Claim Sole Possesion Of First Place In NFC South

AUTHOR: | IN: News, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

A win is a win they say, but in this case it was just a really freaking ugly win. New Orleans found a way to knock off the Bills, and it wasn’t on the arm of Drew Brees like so may times before, but on the defense and return of Pierre Thomas. You have to hand it to the Bills though as they came to play, shutting down what has been a league leading offense that has averaged close to 500 yards a contest and 45.6 points a game. Against the Bills however they managed only 378 total yards and 27 [...]

New Orleans proved they are the team to beat dropping 48 points on a top ranked defense, now everyone is noticing the black and gold! Allot of news here so lets get with it. The Times-Picayune is at it’s usual speed, pumping out Saints articles faster than Lindsay Lohan can down a few shots, on a variety of topics: New Orleans Saints flying under the national radar, SCOUTING REPORT: New Orleans Saints (2-0) at Buffalo [...]

New Orleans Saints – Backup RB Lynell Hamilton To See More Time Against The Bills, Pierre Thomas Near 100 Percent

AUTHOR: | IN: News, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Lynell Hamilton, the Saints fourth running back, has seen an increase in his playing time with the first team offense and should play a larger role in the Saints next game against the Buffalo Bills. Hamilton was signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2008 out of San Diego State, spending his time on the practice squad that year. However Hamilton became the Saints leading back through the 2009 pre-season rushing for 177 yards on 40 carries, a 4.42 average, while catching 10 passes for another 104 yards. His performance earned him a spot on the Saints [...]

Saints RB Mike Bell’s Knee Injury Not As Severe As Predicted After MRI Reveals No Damage.

AUTHOR: | IN: News, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Running back Mike Bell, after running for 86 yards and a touchdown, went down early in the fourth quarter of the Saints 48-22 rout of the Philadelphia Eagles with an apparent knee injury. After the game it was reported Bell suffered a sprained MCL, the severity of which could not be known until an MRI could be performed. The MRI was taken early Monday on Bell’s knee and revealed no “structural” damage but did confirm the sprain of his MCL, a injury that does not require surgery. The MCL ligament is the inner ligament that connects the thigh bone to the [...]

Safety Darren Sharper Making His Presence Felt As A New Orleans Saint

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, Off Topic/Other, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Darren Sharper, the leagues active career interception leader, was said to be too old to be an impact player and was cast off from the Vikings after the team favored starting younger talent ahead of him. Did anyone bother to tell Darren Sharper that his best days were behind him? Sharper felt otherwise and decided to leave for greener fields, confident in his abilities to bring another NFL team a Pro Bowl caliber safety. It just so happened New Orleans was in the market for play makers on the defensive side of the ball after two disastrous seasons where the [...]

Saints RB Mike Bell May Miss Significant Playing Time With Right MCL Sprain

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just when you thought all was well with the Saints run game Bell goes down early in the fourth quarter of the Saints 48-22 win over the Eagles with an apparent MCL sprain, the severity of which is unknown to this point. It may be as far out as Wednesday before the team discloses the degree of the sprain and subsequent recovery time. Ironically this is the same type of injury that has sidelined running back Pierre Thomas for the last four weeks. Thomas was active against Philadelphia but played a very limited role, making appearances on special teams and one offensive [...]

New Orleans Saints Secure Tough 48-22 Victory Over Philadelphia Eagles On The Road, Improve To 2-0 for The First Time Since 2006

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

If the Saints were not considered a contender for the NFC crown they should be now after a hard fought victory over the very game Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints were a dismal road team last season posting a 2-6 record away from the dome, but this is 2009 and definitely a very different team. New Orleans marched into Lincoln Financial Field and pardon the pun “laid the smacketh down” on gang green, 48-22, in possibly the harshest road environment around. Eagles fans are a tenacious bunch and very, very loud which wreaks havoc on opposing offenses — although the black and gold [...]
