Brock Rechsteiner became a popular undrafted free agent for the New Orleans Saints. He impressed as a tryout player during rookie minicamp and earned himself a contract, but any momentum he may have built hit a massive roadblock after he was handed a six game suspension to start his career.
Despite the suspension, Rechsteiner will be able to participate in all practices and preseason games. Because of the suspension, there's an extra layer of pressure on the wide receiver to make an impression during these preseason games.
The six game suspension for a first time offender suggests it was either an anabolic agent or steroids, growth hormones or a substance in that latter ballpark. This is a tough blow for the rookie, and he just put himself at a massive disadvantage at a position that was already going to be tough to crack.

The family business is the WWE, and it's looking more and more likely he will follow suit. His cousin, better known as Bron Breakker now, took this same path. He was an undrafted free agent before going to the WWE.
Rechsteiner has already expressed that he will do the same once he's fully exhausted his options in the NFL. This suspension may be the motivated push that he needs.
The other players Rechsteiner is competing against aren't competing with a looming suspension on their back. That's going to work against him. He was already an undrafted free agent going toe to toe with veterans who have been on the team.
His suspension won't have a heavy impact on the Saints 2026 plans. The truth is Rechsteiner was always destined to more than likely be a practice squad player anyway, so this has a larger effect on him than the Saints.
Even the practice squad may be a long shot for Rechsteiner, because he'll have to sit out the first 6 weeks. The Saints don't have to worry about making that decision immediately, but for Rechsteiner, he'll need to leave enough of an impression for the Saints to want to take someone off the practice squad for him when the receiver is reinstated.
