Cam Jordan had a career resurgence in 2025. This year is all about showing it wasn't a fluke, and one thing standing in his way is a hamstring injury that could keep him out to start the season. New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley just made a declaration that could be scary to even think of for when Jordan returns.
"I was very impressed how he practiced before the hamstring. That was the best I'd seen him practice, quite honestly, since I've been with him, which is saying a lot. But it was the best that he had looked."
We saw what Jordan was able to do in his first year with Brandon Staley. What does even better look like? It could be the Saints having two players surpass 10 sacks again.

Jordan is working on a Hall of Fame career. The Hall is too unpredictable to just put him in already, but he does have a good case already. Another season like he had a year ago could be what seals the deal.
It would be hard to keep Jordan out the Hall of Fame if Staley's words come true.
Jordan's 2025 season proved he has more in the tank. Staley's comments makes fans even more eager to see Jordan back on the field.
Last year, Jordan surprised everyone with a team-leading 10.5 sacks. Coming off back to back, disappointing seasons, and he nearly doubled his combined sack total from those two seasons in 2025 alone. Could another double digit sack season be on the horizon?
It's not unrealistic to say Jordan could get as high as sixth or seventh overall for most sacks in NFL history. 5th place is 18.5 sacks away. He may look better than Staley has ever seen, but the odds of Jordan making that big of a leap is slim at best.
Michael Strahan currently holds sixth place on the list with 141.5 sacks, 9.5 sacks ahead of Jordan. That's an attainable goal based off last year's production. At the least, Jordan should get the 6.5 sacks that should would get him into the top 10.
Every player in the top 10 of sacks all time is in the Hall of Fame. Terrell Suggs and Von Miller are the exceptions, and Miller is still active. The current gap could make it hard to pass Miller, so seventh place is probably the peak for Jordan.
Still, if Jordan comes in and delivers another double digit sack season, he'll retire among the legends, Staley will look like prophetic, fans will be in for a treat and Jordan may be some years removed from a gold jacket.
