Last year, New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan just had his best season in half a decade. Yet despite that, there is some doubt surrounding the future Hall of Famer and if he can do it again in 2026.
His best season since 2021 hasn't had much effect on the media's on-field optimism for him. "Does Jordan still have it? To an extent, yes," After Further Review's Matt Musso said. "I think that he'll do well this season, but is he going to go out there and get 10.5 sacks again? Probably not."
Valid concern, I guess, because Jordan is heading into his age 37 season. There's also the the ugly two-year stretch he had from 2023-2024, however even then there isn't really enough reason to think that he won't have a similar campaign next season. In actuality, there's a much higher chance of a repeat performance than some may initially think.
Why people shouldn't doubt Saints DE Cam Jordan next season
Again, concern about Cam Jordan is valid, as he had just six sacks in '23-'24. but it shouldn't be the main headline of his season. It should be thrown to the back of everyone's heads, honestly.
His sack total in the two seasons of the Dennis Allen era was eyebrow-raising, but in hindsight, it wasn't an indication of Jordan himself. It was more of a sign that something wasn't going right in the building than anything else. That difference was proven by how Cam Jordan's game has changed from then to now.
It was with the new system of Brandon Staley that he had a return to form, after all. Going from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense really did Jordan wonders. Staley putting Jordan in a position to take his hand out of the dirt reinvigorated him as a pass rusher.
If it stays the same next season, that's another reason to not doubt Jordan heading into 2026. He could very well star opposite to Chase Young once again when the regular season rolls around, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him have a very successful 16th NFL season.
