Updated Saints injury report for Week 1 delivers game-changing Marshon Lattimore news
When healthy, Marshon Lattimore is one of the best corners in the NFL. The problem is the New Orleans Saints veteran hasn’t been healthy the last two seasons. In the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Lattimore played a combined 17 games. Of course, injuries are out of his control, but he entered 2024 determined to remind everyone how elite he is.
Unfortunately, his 2024 season got off to the wrong start, sustaining a hip injury in the opening days of training camp. The injury sidelined him for the majority of camp and kept him out of all three preseason games. Naturally, there was some concern that Lattimore could start the season on the sideline.
Now, with kickoff days away, the veteran corner seems to be on track to play. The Saints released an updated injury report on Thursday, revealing that Lattimore had a full practice. That’s an upgrade from the limited practice he had on Wednesday.
Saints Week 1 injury report
Player (Position) | Injury | Wednesday’s practice status | Thursday’s practice status |
---|---|---|---|
Pete Werner (LB) | Shoulder | Full practice | Full practice |
Willie Gay Jr. (LB) | Back | Limited practice | Limited practice |
Marshon Lattimore (CB) | Hip | Limited practice | Full practice |
Nick Saldiveri (G) | Calf | Limited practice | Limited practice |
Jaylan Ford (LB) | Hamstring | Did not practice | Did not practice |
Dallin Holker (TE) | Ankle | Did not practice | Did not practice |
D'Marco Jackson (LB) | Calf | Did not practice | Did not practice |
Khalen Saunders (DT) | Calf | Did not practice | Did not practice |
A.T. Perry | Hand | Did not practice |
The statuses of everyone who was on the initial injury report remained the same, with the exception of Marshon Lattimore. While the veteran corner having a full practice is great news, the Saints also delivered some bad news, adding second-year wide receiver A.T. Perry to the injury report.
A.T. Perry misses practice with hand injury
Perry missed Thursday’s practice with a hand injury and that’ll definitely be something important to monitor. For starters, his hand is pretty important for his job as a receiver, so that could make playing though the issue tough depending on the nature of the injury.
Additionally, New Orleans is pretty thin at receiver, and the team doesn’t have an established No. 3. The hope was that Perry would be able to fill that role, but he certainly won’t be able to do that if he’s sidelined.
It’ll be important to see if he returns to practice in any capacity on Friday, and if Lattimore will continue on the right path. It’ll also be great to see a guy like Willie Gay Jr. have a full practice on Friday. The Saints need all three of these guys when they start the season on Sunday.
