NFL analysts are still trying to trade Saints corner Marshon Lattimore

The New Orleans Saints and star DB Marshon Lattimore have made it clear they’re planning to move forward together, but NFL analysts still want to see a trade.

When Marshon Lattimore arrived for mandatory minicamp earlier this offseason, he and the New Orleans Saints did everything they could to put trade rumors to rest. Not only was the veteran corner present, but he spoke with the media and made it clear that he had no problems with the franchise, and wants to be in New Orleans. Head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Mickey Loomis also made it clear that they had no plans for Lattimore to play next season with any team but the Saints.

Still, with teams yet to start training camp, NFL analysts have continued to put Lattimore in hypothetical trades. The most recent example of that came from Ryan Fowler, in a Bleacher Report piece naming four trades that would transform the league in 2024. One of those trades were Marshon Lattimore to the Minnesota Vikings.

To get this deal done, Fowler had Minnesota sending the Saints a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick. Considering what Lattimore means to New Orleans, that package likely won’t make the team change course and trade a star cornerback.

Still, Fowler argued this is a move that will help the Vikings land the CB1 they need, while helping the Saints with their never-ending cap struggle.

"Projected to be a league-high $88.2 million over the 2025 cap (more than double of any team in the NFL) trading Lattimore would present the Saints with much needed flexibility. A former first-rounder out of Ohio State, Lattimore has a reasonable cap hit of $14.6 million in 2024, but that figure is set to rise to $31.4 million the following season and $28.6 million in 2026."

While the argument makes sense, all signs point to Lattimore remaining with the Saints in 2024, at least to start the season. If New Orleans gets off to a bad start, anything could happen at the trade deadline. Additionally, if the team has another mediocre season, Lattimore, and several other veterans, could be moved next offseason. But, for now, Lattimore will be remaining with the Saints.
