Davante Adams warns the NFL Saints receiver Rashid Shaheed is just getting started
No one was paying attention to the New Orleans Saints when the 2024 season first started, but after two blowout wins, including one that came on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, the Saints have everyone’s attention. The offense, especially, has become the talk of the league.
Scoring over 40 points in back-to-back games to start the season, New Orleans quickly established themselves as a high-scoring unit. The Saints also established they have arguably the most explosive player in the NFL: Rashid Shaheed. In both games this season, Shaheed has caught long touchdown passes.
Against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 he caught a 59-yard touchdown pass. In Week 2, he provided another explosive play, catching a 70-yard score.
Already an All-Pro returner, Shaheed is now making his mark as a receiver in the league. While his long scores have everyone talking, one of the best receivers in the league believes everyone will soon realize Shaheed is more than just a deep threat.
Recently, on the Up & Adams show, both Shaheed and Davante Adams were on at the same time. The Las Vegas Raiders receiver used the moment to give the younger wideout his flowers. He joked that he first noticed Shaheed when he was shocked to see No. 22 on a wide receiver, but then praised the receiver for his abilities. Adams went on to say he believes Shaheed is currently getting the love Tyreek Hill got early in his career as a deep threat, but soon, the league will realize Shaheed is a complete receiver as his evolution and breakout continues.
Davante Adams praises Rashid Shaheed
A three-time All-Pro, and six-time Pro Bowler, Adams is arguably the best wideout in football; he certainly knows what he’s talking bout when it comes to receiver play. He sees how good Shaheed already is, and how good he can be moving forward.
Shaheed and Saints fans loved to hear what Adams had to say. In just his third season, Rashid Shaheed has improved each year. As a rookie, he caught 28 passes for 488 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, his second year in the league, he improved his numbers to 46 receptions for 719 yards and five touchdowns.
This season, he already has seven receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns. With the way he and the offense has looked through two games, he’ll likely have his best season yet.
