The New Orleans Saints used their first pick in the 2026 Draft on wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, and the franchise has since made it clear that was their plan all along. New Orleans loved the wide receiver, and they were convinced he would make it to No. 8. Once he did, the team didn’t hesitate to select him.

Saints head coach Kellen Moore recently explained why that was the case. In a Wednesday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Moore said Tyson was the team’s guy all along because they really enjoyed his film, and after spending time with him in the pre-draft process, New Orleans knew he’d be the perfect guy to add to the receiver room.

General manager Mickey Loomis recently shared similar comments in an interview on SiriusXM, saying they felt good about taking the wideout even before he had his private workout in front of NFL teams a week before the draft. According to Loomis, the workout just affirmed what New Orleans already believed.

With Tyson officially in that wide receiver room, now comes the fun part, and the part that Moore is excited about. That part is building an offense with Jordyn Tyson as a weapon in it.

Moore said the specific things that he sees on Tyson’s tape is the ability to line up and excel at all of the receiver spots, the wide receiver’s skill to release off the line of scrimmage, attack the football, and even his willingness to block. Knowing that Tyson is eager to grow and develop, Moore is confident that the Saints have the right guy.

Fans believe that’s the case as well. Tyson was a dynamic receiver during his time in college, catching 158 passes for 2,282 yards and 22 touchdowns in 33 games. He did that while overcoming or battling through injuries, and while his three significant injuries were his biggest concern entering the league, there’s also a sense of excitement about how productive he could be if health is on his side.

Pairing Tyson with Chris Olave, giving Tyler Shough an improved receiver room after his promising rookie season, the Saints are moving in the right direction. This will also be Kellen Moore’s second season as head coach, so the New Orleans offense could be poised to jump to another level.
