Boise State is honoring New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore in one of the most unique ways you’ll ever see. They are debuting a new field this season, still the same iconic blue turf, and the hashmarks at the 2 and 11 yard line will be painted orange on each side of the field to honor Moore and Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty.
Moore and Jeanty are the two most iconic players in program history and the only two players to be finalist for the Heisman trophy. Moore retired as one of the most decorated quarterbacks in college football history, with the most wins ever and ranked top-5 in career passing touchdowns and yards.

Boise State picked the perfect way to remind new fans of Kellen Moore's legacy
Most times players are honored by a jersey retirement or, in rare cases, immortalized by a statue. This is a more unique way to celebrate one of your program’s legends and a more apt way to keep them on the front of fans’ mind.
It’ll be hard for anyone who was around during that time to forget what Kellen Moore did or meant to Boise State. He put the program on the map on a national level. They were one of the Cinderella teams that eventually led mid majors having to be included in the CFP, something Jeanty’s Broncos took advantage of.
Younger fans, however, may not know much of Moore the quarterback since it was 15 years ago. Just those hashmarks being a different color creates room for questions of why and conversations about what Moore did.
Jersey retirements and statues are phenomenal ways to highlight a legend, but this is one aspect where coloring the hashmarks has a leg up. A jersey number not being on the field is something that isn’t noticed until pointed out or you already know. A statue is rarely noticed by the fans or viewers who aren’t walking into the stadium or catch the brief moment it’s shown before the game starts. The 2 and 11 yard line being orange when every other line is white is something that can’t be missed every game.
