The wide receivers of the New Orleans Saints have been getting hype from just about everybody who gets to see them in action. Their most recent shout-out came from tight end Juwan Johnson, who credited them with a lot of the excitement that surrounded the team in training camp.
Johnson mentioned them as a key to building off of last season. "It's a lot of competition, and I think a lot of it is coming from the receiving room, man. You got a lot of young guys who are stepping up," he said to the media. "Obviously you've seen Bryce Lance doing his thing in joint practices and the preseason. Barion Brown has been extraordinary, as well."
What makes the offseason success of Lance and Brown even better for the Saints is that they're not the only receivers to have national-wide hype. First round pick Jordyn Tyson arguably had the best camp out of anybody, although he is out until October. At that rate, the Who Dat Nation will have to wait until at least the week five game against Minnesota to see if the Saints went three-for-three this past April.

Before he went down for injury, Jordyn Tyson was impressing each and every time he stepped onto the field. A tough thing to stomach, especially considering his previous injury concerns, but it at least led to more snaps and therefore more hype for his fellow rookie receivers.
Bryce Lance's breakout didn't really start until he got the additional snaps, but he took advantage of them when he got the opportunities. This was especially true in the practice with the Los Angeles Rams, where he caught all five of his targets and scored two touchdowns.
Barion Brown, however, has been making statements since the spring. A prospect who many saw as a returner, he's really shown that he is a wide receiver through and through. Due to his unique skillset, he's even drawn comparisons to former team icon Rashid Shaheed.
With Tyson out of the picture early, Brown and Lance's increased opportunities will carry over into the regular season as well. That means their production needs to as well.
With all that competition, the three receivers of the 2026 draft class have proven what Johnson said right. If all goes well, then what he's said could turn his praise into the hard, cold truth.
