Barion Brown is the undisputed star of New Orleans Saints training camp through a week of practices and looks like the Saints next late round gem. All the attention was on Jordyn Tyson going into camp. While he’s been as advertised, it is the last of three receivers the Saints drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft stealing headlines on the daily. Brown was a sixth round pick and he looks poised to out-perform the draft position quickly.
The Brown hype train is getting to the point where you want to tell yourself to not get too high, then he goes and does something again the next day. It’s been a short time, but there’s no one who has risen their stock like Brown. Since the team has put on pads, the rookie has been a nonstop highlight reel.Â
The latest play was a deep shot from Spencer Rattler that was called the throw of camp. What makes it more impressive is it was on third down in a late game simulation. More than just an explosive play, it was a game winning touchdown from Rattler to Brown.Â

The best part of Brown's camp performance is all of the hype is coming from his ability as a wide receiver. His most immediate impact will be as a returner, but he's reminding everyone of his value on offense. In addition to the highlight plays, Brown is winning in one on one drills and in team drills on a consistent basis.
"We watched a lot of evidence of him playing receiver and playing impactful plays in the SEC," Kellen Moore told reporters earlier this week. The Saints have actively avoided putting him in the returner-only box since drafting Brown.
The deep balls down the field obviously draw the most attention, and Moore credits Brown's ball tracking, attacking the football and speed for generating those big plays. It's more than just that. Brown has been just flat out during camp and looks like a real contributor for the offense.
What makes this more impressive is the competition Brown is doing it against. The Saints have solid depth in their cornerback room. They'd feel comfortable with Isaac Yiadom or Martin Emerson having to step into the starting lineup, and Brown is beating both of them.
Brown hasn't slowed down since the pads have come on, and it's hard to write this many impressive days in a row off. At this point, all he's missing is a preseason game to be crowned the star of the offseason.
