J.J. Watt says the quiet part out loud about Saints miserable performance on TNF

On behalf of Saints fans everywhere, thank you, J.J.

It was supposed to be a night all about honoring former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

It was supposed to be a night in reverance of the record-breaking, Super Bowl-winning legacy that earned him a spot in the Saints' Hall of Fame.

Instead, Thursday Night Football kicked off Week 7 with what ended up being as lopsided a loss as the Saints have seen since, well, just a few days ago?

In Week 6, the Saints had it somewhat close with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before getting the doors blown off in the second half. In their matchup with the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, New Orleans seemingly picked up right where they left off.

Forget the injuries. Forget any and all excuses. This performance by the Saints goes beyond any excuses. The effort wasn't there. The passion and grit weren't evident. This was just plain bad football for the entire world to see.

And, again, on a night when the team was honoring Brees?

Big yikes, as the kids would say.

One former NFL player, J.J. Watt, was watching as the night unfolded against the Saints and, quite frankly, he had had enough. While Saints fans were embarrassed at their team's performance and wondering just what exactly this sad excuse of a product was on the field, Watt was saying the quiet part out loud.

It's one thing to be a former player and call a player, team or coach out like this. It's another thing to be a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and do so.

And that's exactly what this is. Watt is a former All Pro and someone who understands what it means to give his all out on the field, which leads us to another underlying yet obvious topic at hand...

Were Saints players trying to get Dennis Allen fired on Thursday Night Football?

For those who watched this one as it unfolded, and maybe followed along on social media, one thing seemed to be abundantly clear.

This team is out on Dennis Allen, period. Whether it was the shenanigans he pulled before halftime that had both Spencer Rattler and Alvin Kamara heated and confused, or really one of any other countless reasons Allen has given the organization to fire him ... the time has come. It couldn't be more obvious.

There is absolutely no way this locker room is behind Allen and, from the moment the second half kicked off, there were "fire Dennis Allen" chants roaring across the stadium. They didn't cease -- at all.

So, with what Watt said in mind, do we think there's a chance these players have quit on their head coach? It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for such a situation to come to fruition. Players have 100 percent given up on head coaches in the past, and even recently. Just ask the Jacksonville Jaguars after some of them were accused of waving the white flag in Week 6.

Watt understands what it's like to be in a winning locker room as well as a losing one. So, for him to say what he said about the Saints, and on such a monumental night for an all-time great like Brees?

That very well could have spoken more than one blatant message.
