Jayden Price was one of the more welcomed surprises from the offseason. He made waves during New Orleans Saints training camp and it translated to the preseason as well. His interception in the opener was one of the most memorable plays of the preseason.
This is the first time Price has made it to an active roster, and his reaction to the accomplishment makes it hard not to root for the guy. He told reporters, "my whole career I just needed somebody to give me an opportunity, somebody to believe in me, and I'm thankful for the Saints."

Jayden Price is more than just an underdog story for the Saints
Price is a really good story. He’s a player who worked his way up from FCS North Dakota State, then had to make a name in the UFL and work to the NFL. Last year, he was a practice squad player all season and earned his way to the active roster.
It makes it a good story, but Price is much more than a story of perseverance. He's more than just a player who made it into the back end of the roster. Price has the potential to play real snaps for Saints in 2026.
Price is playing behind Jonas Sanker, who is moving into a new position. All signs point towards Sanker making that transition well, but training camp is not live action. He still needs to prove he can play the STAR.
Slot cornerback may not be one of the traditional premier positions on defense, but in Brandon Staley's defense, it is held in that regard. That puts a little more pressure on Sanker's acclimation. Seeing that it's a new position, struggles could lead to Price getting a shot at some point.
There's also a path to the field for Price that isn't dependent on Sanker's performance, though it would be in a more limited capacity. Price has the skillset to be the Saints' dime defensive back.
Dime personnel is only going to be used in obvious passing situations, but Price has earned the right to be considered in that role. Jordan Howden is the other name that's an obvious candidate to be the Saints' sixth defensive back on the field in this role.
Regardless if it's stepping in for Sanker or possibly filling in for injury, or even having a role in dime personnel, Jayden Price has worked his way from being a feel good story by just making the roster to a player who isn't far from seeing the field on defense.
