New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen entered the season behind the eight ball. Fans already wanted him gone, and many analysts argued he entered the season on the hot seat. The fact the Saints are now 2-6 and entering Week 9 on a six game losing streak doesn’t help Allen’s standing at all.

Many people are shocked he’s still the head coach in New Orleans, and Saints fans are beyond fed up with him. Not only is Allen upsetting fans with his coaching, he consistently finds ways to make them angrier with his words.

After losses, he somehow always seems to say the wrong things. He did so after the last two losses by essentially flaunting his job security in the face of Saints fans. Allen recently followed those statements up with another statement that’s pushing all the wrong buttons of Saints’ fans.

Appearing on the WWL Coaches Show on Monday, Allen was asked about the NFL being a results-based business. The head coach responded by saying the team doesn’t look at things the same way the people outside the building do. He said since they can’t change the past, they don’t spend much time looking in the rearview mirror, instead turning the page forward.

That’s why after the loss in Week 8, his focus shifted to what the team needs to change to get a win in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.

Dennis Allen says Saints aren’t focused on looking in the rearview mirror

Honestly, this is what a coach should do as long as they’re employed. They should reflect on the mistakes they’ve made and correct them, but sports require individuals to turn the page fast. Nevertheless, this isn’t what fans want to hear from Allen right now.

That was evident in the interactions of the post with this quote. Several fans pointed out how statements like this just seem like Allen is avoiding accountability. Others said this could be why the Saints are having the same problems every week, because the team isn’t spending enough time looking at what went wrong in the past.

Ultimately, there isn’t anything Allen can say that would make fans happy. They either want to see Allen fired or see him consistently lead the team to wins. Right now, neither of those things seem likely.
