Thursday night was bad for the New Orleans Saints. With Sean Payton on the opposing sideline, and Drew Brees in the building for his induction into the Saints’ Hall of Fame, New Orleans was routed by the Denver Broncos, losing 33-10.

The game was so bad that even Alvin Kamara, who has a pretty nonchalant on-field demeanor, was visibly frustrated after plays as things were falling apart. The veteran running back is one of the most honest and transparent players when asked about what’s going on with the team, so everyone knew he’d have things to say following the game.

With everyone questioning the team’s commitment to head coach Dennis Allen, Alvin Kamara was explicitly asked if he feels the team is still supporting Allen, and he quickly responded, “that’s not a question for me to answer; I don’t have nothing for that.”

Kamara then clarified if the reporter meant the locker room (as opposed to the front office, presumably). Once it was clear the question was about the locker room, specifically, Kamara still gave a rather vague answer:

"We’re here, we go to work everyday, we gotta work. We just gotta keep working to figure out what we gotta do to string wins together."

That’s definitely not a vote of confidence for Allen. If anything, Kamara’s words will be interpreted as him saying it is what it is, the team has to come to work regardless and try to win games. While that’s definitely the bottom line, you’d hope players have a coach that they want to play for. Right now, it’s unclear if the Saints have that in Dennis Allen.

Of course, Kamara can’t speak for the entire team, so he was in a tough spot regardless. Additionally, players are unlikely to come out and campaign for their coach to be fired. All fans and analysts can do is analyze the team’s performance, and watch players’ every action to see if they’re still on the same page with the head coach.

With how New Orleans has looked over the last five weeks, it doesn’t look like anyone in the franchise is on the same page.
