In the New Orleans Saints’ embarrassing Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos, veteran running back Alvin Kamara continued one of the weirdest streaks in the NFL. In his eight-year career, the star running back has never scored a touchdown on Thursday Night Football.

Before the Week 7 game, Kamara had played in seven Thursday Night Football games. In those games, the veteran running back had 140 total touches for 574 yards, but never got into the end zone. Beyond scoring, he didn’t particularly have great games, averaging just 45.4 rushing yards and 36.6 receiving yards in those seven games.

The Saints didn’t have much success in those games either, going 2-5 in the seven outings.

Alvin Kamara has never scored a touchdown in a Thursday game

Entering Thursday’s game, he was the only player ever with 100+ touches and zero touchdowns on Thursdays. It’s a bit strange when you consider the caliber of player that Kamara is. He’s one of the most talented running backs of all time, and one of the best of his era.

In the eighth Thursday game of his career, Kamara had another 13 touches, seven rushes and six receptions. However, he only had 24 total yards, and still no touchdowns, giving him the least productive Thursday game of his career.

In eight years, 107 games before this most recent one, Kamara averages 58.5 rushing yards a game and 41.7 receiving yards a game. He also had 85 total touchdowns, which breaks down to 0.79 touchdowns per game. So in eight attempts, it’s a bit odd that he never got in the end zone.

Now, that streak will live on. New Orleans doesn’t have another Thursday game this season, and with Kamara’s future unclear, there’s no telling if he’ll ever get another opportunity to end this odd streak.
