Offensive New Orleans Saints who thrived – No. 1: Marquez Callaway

Yeah, this was a no-brainer, as Marquez Callaway went from a hyped player to showing why he was worthy of that hype in one game alone. That performance came in the first quarter of the preseason game against Jacksonville when he hauled in five receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

In the preseason opener, Callaway caught three balls for 61 yards, which was second in receiving yards for the Saints offense in that game.

Entering training camp, most assumed that Tre’Quan Smith would be the go-to wide receiver in the offense but due to injury, he didn’t get the playing time Saints fans would have liked to see. That paved the way for Callaway to really step into that role and run with it.

Saints fans feel much better about the wide receiver position after seeing what Callaway could do as a starter in the preseason. Yes, it was preseason, but the former UDFA out of Tennessee looked terrific and it’s hard not be excited about that.
