Drew Brees

This is in no way a shot at Drew Brees or his ability. Brees went down with a major chest injury just a few weeks ago. He was placed on IR and missed the minimum required three weeks for him to be activated in time to play this week against the Eagles.

However, after 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung, I think it would be best to not rush the 40-year old quarterback back to action. Taysom Hill, who has filled in for Brees while he was on the IR, is currently 3-0 in his starts and has been playing well.

The Eagles are not much of a threat sitting at 3-8-1 with losses to the Seahawks and Packers. The Saints should be able to handle this team without Brees. Hill should retain the start and play one more week while Brees gets the opportunity to heal a little longer.

The Saints are looking to make a deep run into the playoffs this year and hopefully leave with a Lombardi trophy, but they won’t be able to do that if Brees gets hurt again. It will be better to hold him out this week and let him come back against the reigning champions the week after.
