3 Saints players that are surprisingly still on the roster after the first round of cuts

Number Two: Austin Carr

Austin Carr must really be on head coach Sean Payton’s good side. Carr, a shifty 6-foot-1 wide receiver, has managed to always be on and off the Saints active roster despite being a borderline terrible wide receiver in his career.

The potential for Austin Carr is there, but he hasn’t even come close to tapping into that potential. Carr signed a one-year contract at the beginning of the offseason and will look at competing for that final wide receiver spot.

I would have much rather seen Maurice Harris or Krishawn Hogan compete for a lower level receiving spot rather than the unreliable Austin Carr. In 2019, Carr played in just six games recording one reception for nine yards.

The Saints already have plenty of speed with Emmanuel Sanders, Emmanuel Butler, Bennie Fowler, and Deonte Harris and speed is literally the only reason Carr has been on the roster for so long.

I fully expect Austin Carr to be gone in the next roster trimming.
