Who Dat Dish: New Orleans Saints News, Rumors and Links for 4/17

The New Orleans Saints are in more cap trouble than ever as the team continues to meet with NFL draft prospects and gauge its biggest needs.

Today, reports are streaming in about those needs, the preseason schedule has finally been fully announced and the regular season schedule is almost upon us.

Let’s take a look.


ESPN Lists the Saints Opponents for the 2013 Season:

Home: Falcons, Saints, Buccaneers, Rams, Seahawks, Giants, Patriots and Jets.

Away: Falcons, Saints, Buccaneers, Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings, Bills and Dolphins.

The official schedule releases Thursday.


ESPN and Others List WR as a Need for the Saints in the Draft:

When it comes to the New Orleans Saints, Matt Williamson touches on a good point when he lists wide receiver as a “quiet need’’. He’s right. The Saints have Marques Colston andLance Moore and a bunch of unproven guys. Plus, Colston isn’t getting any younger. It might be time to add another receiver to the mix in the middle rounds.


ESPN Has the Saints in Some Serious Cap Trouble This Year and Beyond:

The New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons are among the teams with the least room. New Orleans is $1.635 million under the cap and only four teams have less cap room. The Falcons are $2.027 million under the cap.

The Saints and Falcons will have to restructure contracts or release players to be able to sign their draft picks. Has the Official Dates and Times of Each Preseason Matchup:

The three games that are not nationally televised will be regionally televised on CST, with all four games on WVUE FOX-8. All games can be heard on the New Orleans Saints Radio Network (WWL 870 AM and 105.3 FM locally).
