Does something need to be done about inconsistent officiating in NFL? (Poll)

Saints head coach Sean Payton has not made any ill remarks regarding the horrible officiating during the teams game against the Titans.

However it’s hard for most to agree with Payton’s lackadaisical attitude towards the refs, who wiped out 14 points for the Saints on two separate scoring plays.

A holding call wiped out an amazing punt return touchdown by Darren Sproles, and later an out of bounds call negated a great catch by tight end Jimmy Graham for a touchdown.

But the issue is much more widespread than just the Saints/Titans game. Every week in the league there are questionable and controversial calls made that greatly affect the outcome of many of the NFL’s games.

Inconsistency seems to run rampant through the league — as a fan one can only hope that their favorite team gets a group of referee’s that aren’t “whistle happy” — but when is enough actually going to be enough.

Not only have bad calls plagued the NFL, but the constant interference by the referee’s has completely ruined the flow of the game for many watching.

At times it seems we spend more time waiting for a ref to explain a call than actually watching the two teams play football.

So we pose the question — does something need to be done about the inconsistent officiating in the NFL? Vote through the poll at the bottom of the page, also please leave a comment with what you think the NFL should do about it.
