With the 2025 NFL Draft less than a month away, the New Orleans Saints are in full evaluation mode. The team has been flying around the country, attending different pro days, having dinners with different prospects, and also holding visits and workouts with guys. The team still has plenty of time to finalize its board, but New Orleans seemingly has a good idea of the players it likes.
One of those players appear to be Tyler Batty, a defensive lineman out of BYU. It was recently reported that Batty is having a busy spring, being evaluated by several teams, and that includes a scheduled private workout with the Saints.
Saints schedule a private workout with Tyler Batty
Batty is an intriguing prospect that is current projected to be drafted on day three, or possibly late day two. After a successful five-year career at BYU, he has been impressing throughout the pre-draft process with his combination of size and athleticism.
At the scouting combine, Batty measured in at 6-foot-6, 271 pounds, and ran a 4.78 40-yard dash, while also putting up explosive numbers in all of the other testing categories. Now, everyone is curious to know how he’ll perform at the next level.
In college, he played in 53 games, recording 16.5 sacks, 224 tackles, and 34 tackles for a loss. While his sack count may not be that high for the number of games he played, never recording more than 5.5 in a single season, Batty was clearly a disruptive pass rusher— that disruption just didn’t always end in a sack.
Of course, New Orleans has been in pursuit of productive pass rushers. Cam Jordan’s career is nearing an end, but the Saints do have Chase Young and Carl Granderson who are both young and productive. If Batty impresses in his workout with the team, he could get added to the group.
