While the NFL is being reshaped by the hour with trades and free agency moves, the players are in full offseason mode. That means they’re on vacation, having fun, and doing things unrelated to football. Unfortunately, that doesn’t free them from their status as NFL players, and allow them to escape trolls and critics.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was recently the target of some internet trolls for simply enjoying his offseason. A video of the veteran quarterback on a yacht with friends and family, with a drink in his hand, circulated online, and he was shamed for being out of shape.

While many felt this was an unnecessary discussion to even have, one player that came to Tagovailoa‘s defense was New Orleans Saints star Alvin Kamara. The veteran running back simply responded to the post by saying, “It’s…. Offseason.” In other words, leave the young quarterback alone, and his shape doesn’t even matter right now anyway.

It was a bit surprising to see Kamara come out and defend Tagovailoa, because the two aren’t teammates, and Kamara also isn’t the most vocal guy when he’s not in front of a microphone. However, he must’ve come across the post and decided it was best to check these troll accounts.

While the two aren’t teammates, and it’s unclear if they have a relationship at all, they both did spend time at the University of Alabama. Kamara played for the Tide during his freshman season in 2013, before moving on to Hutchinson Junior College, and eventually Tennessee, and Tagovailoa spent three years at Alabama from 2017 to 2019.

That connection probably didn’t have anything to do with Kamara’s words, though. He was most likely just tired of seeing foolishness online in the football space.

Both guys are hoping for bounce-back seasons with their respective teams in 2025, as the Saints went 5-12 in 2024, and Miami went 8-9. When the season rolls around, they’ll both be ready to go.
