One of the most bizarre things to happen this offseason is New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave’s name being floated in hypothetical trades posed by fans and writers. Olave is the team’s top receiver, and arguably the franchise’s most promising player when factoring his age and ability. Additionally, there’s no friction between New Orleans and the young wideout, so a trade would truly come out of nowhere.

Still, Olave’s name has been popular in trade ideas— typically in a trade for a quarterback or a trade into the top three picks to select a quarterback. While getting a QB is important, you don’t want to sacrifice the team’s top wideout to do so.

Olave seemingly reacted to all the chatter, recently posting a couple of laughing emojis on social media. Truly, not much else needed to be said, because the notion of trading the young wideout away is hilarious.

The team decided to join in on the discussion in a unique way, while also making their stance clear. The official Saints’ account on social media posted a video of one of Olave’s most impressive touchdowns, sharing it with a caption that read, “Just a reminder that Chris Olave is that guy.”

This essentially acknowledged the noise, while making it clear Olave will remain the guy in New Orleans.

While the young wideout won’t be traded, this is a big offseason for Olave. The team can now decide on his fifth-year option, and he’s also coming off the most challenging season of his young career. Olave was limited to just eight games in the 2024 season after suffering two concussions in a four-week span.

After meeting with specialists during the season, and returning to practice late in the year, he’s now healthy and ready to resume his young career. That will be in New Orleans, as new head coach Kellen Moore tries to take his game to another level.
