For some reason, New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave has become a popular name in recent hypothetical trades. After shining throughout his first three years, the Saints haven’t given any inclination they’d be willing to move him, but fans have been running with the idea he could be a valuable trade piece.

All of the talk must’ve made it to Olave, because he shared a simple message on Tuesday that appeared to be a response to the noise. The young receiver simply posted two laughing emojis. Surely enough, fans quickly flocked to the post saying why he should or shouldn’t be moved.

Ultimately, this was probably just Olave laughing at the notion he should be traded, because it’s definitely a comical take to even put out.

Chris Olave appears to laugh off trade speculation

New Orleans drafted Olave in the first round of the 2022 Draft, and he has delivered on expectations, quickly establishing himself as the team’s No. 1 receiver. As a rookie he led the team with 72 receptions and 1,042 yards, while adding four touchdowns, and he did it again in 2023, catching 87 passes for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns.

In 2024, Olave was limited to just eight games after suffering two concussions in a four-week span, but he still managed to record 32 receptions for 400 yards, and one touchdown.

Now healthy, Olave is ready to continue his ascension, and all signs point to that being in New Orleans. The Saints can now decide on his fifth-year option, and the only reasonable outcome is the team picking it up. As New Orleans moves into a new era with Kellen Moore as the head coach, Olave will have a huge role in what Moore wants to do offensively.

If the young wideout can stay healthy, and continue to improve like everyone thinks he can, he’ll be due a huge extension soon. In the meantime, the Saints need to find him a franchise quarterback.
