The New Orleans Saints’ plane has been getting a lot of miles this past week, but that’s expected during draft season. The team is flying all around the country, getting familiar with prospects before they decide who they want to select in the 2025 Draft.
On Wednesday, the Saints attended Ohio State’s pro day, then flew to Athens, Georgia to host a dinner with several draft prospects from the Georgia Bulldogs. Among the group of players that attended the dinner was Mykel Williams, an edge defender who has become a popular selection for the New Orleans in mock drafts.

Williams is considered one of the top edge prospects in what analysts describe as a very deep defensive line class. Considering New Orleans’ steady pursuit of elite edge players, Williams has been a name frequently selected by the Saints at No. 9 in mock drafts.
The defensive end is 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, and he produced all three years during his time with the Bulldogs. In 40 games with the loaded Georgia defense, Williams recorded 14 sacks, 23 tackles for a loss, and 67 total tackles. The production, along with his traits, make him an intriguing prospect for teams like New Orleans, who want more defensive line help.
The Saints still have Cam Jordan, who’s likely entering his final season, Carl Granderson, and Chase Young, who they just re-signed to a three-year deal. However, New Orleans doesn’t have the game-wrecking edge rushers that it’s been looking for every draft. If the Saints believe Mykel Williams is capable of being that, they’ll get him.
However, New Orleans will have several options at nine. Again, this is a talented edge class, so the Saints could like someone more than they like Williams. His teammate, Jalon Walker, who has experience on the edge and as an off-ball linebacker could also be an option. The team could also go in a completely different direction. That’s why the Saints are flying all over the country now, to determine the best direction.
