New Orleans Saints corner Paulson Adebo is about to enter free agency for the first time in his young career. Before that officially happens, Adebo is making sure everyone knows he’s healthy. The last time he was on the field, he broke his femur in a Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos, sidelining him for the majority of an important contract year.

Understanding how damaging that could be, Adebo recently took to social media to show off his recovery progress. He shared footage of him on a field doing a backflip and defensive back drills, making it clear that being carted off the field in October is well behind him.

This is great news for Adebo, because he was expected to be one of the top free agents prior to his injury. In his four years with the Saints, he has developed into a quality starting corner. After really making his name known in 2023, he was expected to have a breakout year in 2024, setting himself up for a massive new deal.

Instead, he had the injury, and some highs and lows on the field prior to being sidelined. Adebo was flagged nine times this past season, in less than eight whole games, being called for six defensive pass interference penalties and three defensive holding calls. However, He also recorded three interceptions and 10 pass deflections over that same span.

Even with a growing boom-or-bust reputation, and the femur injury, Adebo is still expected to have suitors this offseason. It’s unclear if he’ll get the kind of long-term contract he was hoping to land, or if he’ll have to settle for a shorter prove-it deal.

What is clear, is that the Saints need to re-sign him. After trading Marshon Lattimore, New Orleans needs some stability at the cornerback position. Kool-Aid McKinstry will return after a promising rookie season, and Alontae Taylor is coming back to play in the slot. Adebo is needed for the other outside spot opposite of McKinstry.
