The New Orleans Saints scheduled their first top-30 visit of the year with East Carolina cornerback, Shavon Revel Jr. These visits are important in scouting a prospect. The player will get flown to New Orleans to workout at the team’s facility, meet with staff members and allow the team’s doctor to inspect them.
The Saints scheduling a 30 visits with Revel doesn’t mean they will draft him, but it does mean they are interested in. The talented corner could end up being the steal of the draft.

Shavon Revel is a long, fast defender who has the potential to be a lockdown outside cornerback. His blend of size and speed, prowess in both man and zone coverage, and special teams ability make him a highly warranted prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. After trading Marshon Lattimore, the Saints have a vacancy at cornerback that Revel would fill perfectly.
He has had an interesting journey to becoming a top prospect. He started his college career at Louisburg college, a JUCO school. After two years he transferred to East Carolina and developed into the player he is now. Prior to 2024 he reportedly was offered six figures to transfer but stayed loyal to the Pirates.
Revel missed a majority of 2024 after he suffered a torn ACL during practice in September. This injury has kept him out of the NFL Combine and East Carolina’s upcoming pro day. Luckily, reports from Indianapolis showed that he is progressing well and should be on the field for rookie mini camp and training camp.
Revel has a blend of side and speed that’s rare for cornerbacks. His speed is evident on film. There are multiple instances where he closes ground rapidly on the receiver to make a play on the ball. He will play outside cornerback at the next level, likely at a high level. He has potential to be an elite press cornerback, with development, due to his arm length and strength. His strength makes him an asset defending the run. There are multiple instances where Revel flies downhill to stop a running back in his tracks.
Revel shows traits of being an elite defender in both man and zone defenses. While in man, he showcases elite change of direction which allows him to stay with the receiver. He is extremely physical; if he gets his hands on the receiver it’s over. Revel’s instincts are on full display while playing zone coverage. He is always reading the quarterback's eyes, sometimes too much allowing him to miss a receiver. Once the quarterback begins his motion, Revel trusts his instincts and rapidly accelerates to make a play.
The North Carolina native will be a heavy special teams contributor at his floor. He has experience playing the gunner and on field goal blocking units. His speed and size allow him to either sprint down the field and make the tackle or get a hand on the kick.
Revel will need to clean up his technique at the next level. This is expected as he’s played for smaller schools, not allowing him to get the coaching other athletes obtain. Letting him work with the defensive backs coaches will elevate his game to another level.
Shavon Revel Jr. is a talented prospect at a position of need for the Saints. If he’s available in the second round he would be an excellent addition. It’s clear that the front office knows that and are doing their due-diligence on Revel.
