The New Orleans Saints are lucky to be having two more joint practices, that's for sure, because wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has suffered a hamstring injury. While the de facto WR2 is on the mend, the team will have to use the upcoming practices with the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams to find out what they can do without the star rookie.

Tyson was supposed to stand next to Chris Olave, but with him now set to be out at least two months, the whole offseason plan has been thrown off course. The whole idea of having a strong reciever room has now become a real cause for concern.

Players like Trey Palmer, Bryce Lance, Barrion Brown, and especially DeVaughn Vele can now push themselves into even more of a star role with the extra snaps. However, with this kind of chance, their receiving depth has now been brought into question. Most receivers in the room, except Olave, have little experience.

The New Orleans Saints WRs will need to quickly gain experience

Besides Olave, the most experienced receiver in the room in terms of snaps is Vele. After him are Trey Palmer, Kevin Austin Jr., Ronnie Bell, Bub Means, Barrion Brown, and Bryce Lance. Even though some might end up on the practice squad, all of them will need to jump into the deep end these next few practices.

The unit will need to quickly gain experience, and there's no better way than to practice against real NFL competition. Their own teammates can also only do so much, and at this point new competition is the next step in finding out who can be what. The additional joint practices really couldn't come any sooner for that reason.

Right now, the top two receivers are Olave and then Vele. Hopefully, over the California road trip, we'll get some clarity on who the third guy is and what they'll be doing in the room now that Tyson is missing some time.
