Saints could be getting two promising young players back on the field soon
On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints saw another key player suffer a heartbreaking injury, when Taysom Hill tore his ACL. Hill now joins other veterans like Rashid Shaheed and Paulson Adebo who are sidelined for the season. With so many guys sidelined, it’s clear why the Saints have struggled this year.
However, New Orleans is finally getting some good injury news. As the team adds Taysom Hill to injured reserve, the Saints are preparing to activate a couple of guys off IR. On Monday, the team announced that the 21-day practice windows were being opened for Kendre Miller and Bub Means.

Both guys have been on injured reserve for the last four weeks, so they’re now eligible to return. They technically have 21 days before the team has to decide if they’ll be activated, but it’s likely they’ll both be activated sooner rather than later.
Means, a rookie receiver, was dealing with an ankle injury. Prior to being placed on injured reserve, he played in seven games, caching nine passes for 118 yards and one touchdown. However, most of his action came with Spencer Rattler at quarterback. With the wide receiver room incredibly thin, Means will have the opportunity to contribute with Derek Carr at quarterback.
Kendre Miller’s road has been a bit more rocky. The second-year running back started the season on injured reserve after injuring his hamstring on the first day of training camp. He returned in Week 7, but injured his other hamstring in Week 8 and was right back to IR.
In those two games, Miller had nine carries for 52 yards, and that accurately summarizes the story of his young career: a talented player who can’t stay healthy. However, Miller is now healthy, and will have the opportunity to play a big role in the final five games now that Taysom Hill is done for the year.
With just five games left, and the playoffs looking like a long shot. This would be the perfect opportunity for Miller, Means, and other young guys to get valuable experience.
