Drew Brees is just a few days away from officially being enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. While many of the inductees will have to wait until Saturday to receive their recognition, the former New Orleans Saints quarterback is already getting his flowers. That's the perks of the stadium being named after Tom Benson.
Benson has a statue outside of Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, and the statue was given a small alteration in honor of Brees' induction. Benson's statue is now donning a Brees jersey. Brees joked, "Mr. B would have looked good in a jersey."

Drew Brees deserved a special moment in addition to the Hall of Fame induction
It's the Hall of Fame, so of course there's great players being inducted on Saturday. Brees being the Saints quarterback being inducted in the stadium named after the long time Saints owner deserves its own special honor.
There's obviously no other player or coach who could've had this specific moment in this class, but you could make a strong argument that no Saints player in the future should receive this moment either.
The Hall of Fame stadium was named after Benson shortly before his passing, and Brees is the first Saints player since Mr. Benson passed away to be inducted into the Hall. Not only is Brees the first Saint, he's also the greatest Saint of all time.
That distinguishment earns Brees some preferrential treatment. A jersey over the statue is a great touch, and it's something that is unique to Brees.
If the Benson family chooses to keep this going with future Hall of Famers who played for the Saints, no one is going to complain. There's probably just two Saints that could get this honor, Cam Jordan and Jahri Evans.
Both players spent significant time in the Saints organization with Mr. Benson, and it would make sense to tie their induction back to the former Saints' owner.
It's likely we see this be a one time thing. With everything Brees means to the franchise and Benson family, he ha a legacy that's hard for anyone to measure up to.
