On Wednesday night, it was revealed Drew Brees would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame by his former head coach Sean Payton. I think most people already knew this was coming, but the confirmation makes a great day for New Orleans Saints fans even better.
Payton was pretty emotional when he received Brees' call requesting Payton to induct him. There will be a lot more tears in Canton, both on the stage, in the crowd, and in the living rooms of Saints fans worldwide. These are the two faces the Golden Era in Saints history, so it was only right to

Who other than Sean Payton would induct Drew Brees?
The request and phone call was nothing more than a formality. No one else was ever going to induct Brees into the Hall of Fame because there's no one else who deserves that honor.
There's a lot of people Brees could induct into the Hall because of how wide his reach is for the Saints. However, Payton giving the speech for Brees was an absolute no brainer. And when Payton gets his gold jacket, it should be Brees returning the favor for his head coach.
There could be some consideration for Bill Parcells inducting Payton, but Payton and Brees are synonymous with each other. Their legacies are intertwined in a way that it would be odd to not see them induct each other.
Payton is a great story teller, and he's probably flipping through his mental rolodex of Brees stories he's never told before. It'll be much more than wins, losses and Lombardi Trophies. Payton will pull out the moments that made Brees great that we never saw or the personal aspects of Brees' character that are typically overshadowed by his on field prowess.
Payton and Brees came to New Orleans at the same time, and even though they had a foundation before getting to the Saints, they rose to legendary status simultaneously. That's 20 years of history, 15 of which on the field, Payton has to pull from. It's definitely not a moment Saints fans want to miss.
