It's been a long time coming, that's for sure, but today a long wait for the Who Dat Nation is over. The eighth overall pick, Jordyn Tyson, who's been on injured reserve since August, made his highly anticipated return to the practice field today. With the wide receiver making a comeback, the Saints offense finally gets a missing piece back.

Tyson's whole injury situation has felt like it has dragged on since the rookie went down in the Jaguars joint practice. Initially his recovery timeline was just two months, with the first report even saying he could be back in October. With that month come and gone, it'll be in the first practice of November that the first-round pick returns

Without Tyson, the receiving corps in New Orleans has been a two-man show featuring Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. They're the two leading receivers on the team with 636 and 348 yards, and your eyes will have to travel down the stat sheet a bit to find the Saints WR3. With only 78 yards through seven games, rookie Bryce Lance has fallen behind the top two, with two tight ends and a running back getting more production.

Saints WR Jordyn Tyson will provide a much-needed boost to the receiving room

Before he got injured, Jordyn Tyson was lighting up the field in training camp, so much so that he likely would've been the training camp MVP if it weren't for the hamstring issue. Showing off his ruote running, agility, and highlight catch ability, it was impossible to miss the Saints' first-round draft pick this past summer. There's no reason he won't do the same in the Superdome on Sunday, if that's when he returns.

Tyson's debut this weekend isn't 100%, as New Orleans now has a 21-day practice window where the team can activate him at any point. They could let him practice as much as they want until Nov. 25, which would push his debut to the week 12 game in Cincinnati. Given that the Saints have already taken a curiously cautious approach to this whole situation, it would make sense if they took more than a week of practices to get Tyson ramped up.

In his return, Tyson should pair very nicely with Olave and Vele and provide that room with its much-needed third receiving threat. It'll be a longtime coming, given the size of the gap between those top two and the rest of the position group. Tyson should also have a huge fan in quarterback Tyler Shough, who the offense has been relying on heavily to start the season.

Currently, the Saints sit last place in the NFC South at 2-5. They could use Tyson back anytime now, although the Bengals' 26th-ranked pass defense might be his greatest chance for a big splash in his debut. Although, he's bound to have some sort of highlight reel play whenever he does make his debut, whether that's this Sunday, the next one, or the one after that.
