While the New Orleans Saints eventually expect new head coach Kellen Moore to eventually bring thsi team back int the postseason with soem degree of regularity, 2025 will be more about cleaning out some of the rotten elements from the Dennis Allen era.
Tayson Hill has become one of the Saints' more well-known players over the last few years due to his tremendous versatility, but he could be on his way out of town as Moore tries to take this offense up a notch.
CBS Sports listed Hill as one veteran who could surprisingly end up being cut after the preseason. While Hill has become one of the more beloved role players in Saints history, keeping a 35-year-old backup tight end at his expensive price point is likely not going to fit in with Moore's youth movement.
CBS projects Saints will cut fan-favorite Taysom Hill
Hill ran for 278 yards and six touchdowns last season while chipping in an extra 187 yards as a receiver. Those numbers gave him the fewest yards from scrimmage he has had since the 2021 season, when he took some time off from his utility role to play as a traditional quarterback.
While the Saints have one of the worst skill position groups in the league, Moore seems comfortable moving ahead with the 1-2 punch of Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau when the latter returns to full health. It's not a Hall of Fame duo, but it's workable for a year or two.
Hill might not have much of a market outside of New Orleans if he is released. On top of the concerns with his age, Hill might not be good enough to warrant an offensive coordinator created an entirely different set of plays and formations to get the most out of him at this point in his career.
Hill's unique career in the NFL is sadly coming to a close. He may end up sticking around for one more year in New Orleans, but fans shouldn't necessarily expect him to be as big of a part of the team's offensive gameplan as he was with the old guys in charge.
