The New Orleans Saints have continued to stick to their strategy of kicking the salary cap can down the road and that's put them in a tough place. One player that could make sense for them to deal is Taysom Hill, who Pro Football Network listed as a potential trade candidate for the Saints.

"The Saints don’t have many tradeable contracts because of how aggressively they use void years. That means that there are very few players that would make salary cap sense for the Saints to trade, at least until after June 1 (when they can spread the cap hit out over multiple years).
When we get to that point, Taysom Hill is one possibility as a soon-to-be 35-year-old entering the last year of his contract. Hill’s $10 million base salary exceeds his value, so a trade would likely come with a renegotiated contract."

Pro Football Network suggests bold Taysom Hill trade that could pay off

While Hill is undoubtedly a fan favorite in New Orleans, trading him wouldn't be a bad move by any means. As PFN noted, Hill is entering his age-35 season and the Saints don't have the flexibility to trade many of their players. He's also entering the final year of his contract and the Saints could potentially get something in return for him if they dealt him now.

Hill has been with the Saints since 2017 and was one of Sean Payton's players during his time as the time's head coach. That's the main reason a trade with the Denver Broncos would make sense, as Payton clearly loves Hill and would probably be the most willing to give something up in order to have him on his team. Hill could help fill out some of the Broncos' tight end depth and, again, he'd get to reunite with Payton.

Saints fans adore Hill but he only appeared in eight games in 2024 and with one year remaining on his contract, the time to trade him is now. This team isn't contending for a Super Bowl in 2025 so there's no need to keep Hill on the roster. Trade him and get something in return while also shedding cap space and that would help push this team in the right direction.
